FTT SPRING 22 Results

05/02/2022

FTT SPRING 22 lived up to and surpassed the excitement of our previous seasonal event. After receiving your feedback, we changed our format to a best of 3 series for the title matches, and of course brought back Rockin' Tony with an even more rockin' setlist.

We again thank our partners and sponsors for making this second seasonal offering possible, and would like to express our immense gratitude to Terry Drassal, Kevin Koenig, Table Tennis MN, MPLS Cider Co, and Paddle Palace.

Patrick L found himself up against it again in his showdown with Liv H for the Division 3 Title. For the second time in a row he faced a player with a higher rating, and this time one who had been perfect against him all season. Additionally, he was faced with the challenge of the champion's curse, and the opportunity to notch the first successful defense in league history. With concentration, clarity of mind, certainty and determination, Tournament Patrick showed up, showed out, and pulled off another upset to continue his reign.

Ziggy Z faced Amit P for the vacant FTT D2 Title following the former champ Noah W's promotion to Division 1. The two had already put on a handful of classics leading up to their match, exchanging nearly 250 points over the course of season with a very slight edge going to Amit. The middle division delivered again with a thrilling back and forth match that featured nasty services, long rallies, riveting reversals, and big finishes with Ziggy eventually capturing the strap.

Dan SA squared off with former contender Jay C for the League Championship at FTT SPRING 22. With the standing champ Ken K unable to make it, the top two players in Division 1 clashed for the crown. They went all the way to a decider in a calculated match that saw back and forth drama punctuated with absolutely gruesome vertical overhead spikes. Despite coming off of a recent ankle injury, in the end Dan was the last man standing and left everyone wondering who could challenge him next. When asked for his message to the rest of the players in D1 who will be chasing his title he straightforwardly replied, "I'll play anyone."
